Reflection on my Media Project 2

The Media Project I have carried out this term was probably the one that interested me the most out of the three projects I have created throughout this foundation year. At first, I was unsure on what work on but I wanted it to be related to fashion. I spent the first few weeks thinking of what to create until I had clearer ideas. I am satisfied with the interview I have made because I believe to have collected essential information for my article. However, I do think that I should have carried out further research. However the topic is  recent and narrow and therefore, most of the relevant articles say essential the same thing but in different ways. The challenge was, in fact, to say it in my own words and style and not imitate others. A second challenge was that the interview occurred at a late time throughout the 9th week and therefore had little time to write my first draft and then my final piece, if the interview had been made earlier I believe the article would have been bett

Website changes

Image
As I am approaching the end of this module and the end of my project I made changes to the website to be ready for presentation. First, I added my blog address as a form of social media link.  I cliclid on Add→ Social Media and the selected Icon→Blogger  I added an introduction as the rest of my projects. Add→Lists&Grids, then i chose the template and modified the image and text and button. I then, linked the button to the page on which my project has been uploaded. I have added a new page for the article. I also decided to add a folder which is shown on the menu bar so that the articles are separated by the video and the visitors can see the classification and can see the 2 writing pieces and the video and click on them directly. I haves checked the mobile versions of my website and found little displaying mistakes, as you can see there was a social media bar which I have deleted. Moreover  the blogger icon was one not correctly aligned, but overall th

Website Peer Review

Konrad's Website: https://konradtomialojc1.wixsite.com/website-1/gallery In my opinion, the colorful home page engages the reader and it clearly reflects what the website is about. Navigation is easy, however the gallery page does include some cooking activities which are not relevant with the purpose of the website. The about me is interesting, I enjoyed reading it and I think other people will too. The contact page is well presented except for the background. I think the background color creates too much of a contrast because the rest of the pages were more colorful while this one appears quite dull and I feel like gives me sad impression. Overall, I think that all of the pages, especially the about me clearly expresses what Konrad is doing. I would adjust the contact page background and the content in the gallery page

Copyright free images

I have searched possible images that would fit my article, both copyright free and not.  These images were found on Unsplash, a website that distibutes copyright free images. Based on Unsplash, the photographer does not have to be attributed, meaning I do not have cite these images  On the other hand, images could elsewhere must be cited.  According to the DMU Library referencing guide these images would be cited as followed:  MARIE CLAIRE (2020)  Gucci is the latest designer to announce a change of pace.  [Online] Available from: https://www.marieclaire.co.uk/fashion/gucci-change-fashion-699022 [Accessed 23/08/20]  JACQUEMUS (2020) Jacquemus Spring/Summer 2020, 10th anniversary show. Process: Article draft

Image
I have completed a first draft of my article and sent it to my tutor for feedback. As you can see, most of the comments are correcting sentence structure and grammatical errors, although there are 2 main points I have work on. First thing to consider is a hook- a hook should get my readers interested in my writing. A possible hook that might excite my readers may be:  How is fashion going to look like in 2020? Nobody really knows, but from what we know,  there are efforts being made to help our planet.  or  The change in fashion industry we all awaited, may be closer than ever.  The second point I have to develop is a conclusion. The line of argument in this writing is that the Coronavirus has pushed designers and others involved in the fashion industry to be more sustainable and responsible. So, I will develop the conclusion around this idea and the final thought would be that the pandemic has brought an advantage-it has helped develop future prospects in fash

Interview Transcription

Interview with Benedetta Boroli -founder of Benedetta Boroli shoes   Me : What is your brand's approach towards sustainability? Interviewee:  Sustainability is one of the key themes of my brand. We are on the frontline to support environmental protection and social responsibility to help our planet. In fact, starting from the SS20 collection the packaging will be totally sustainable, certified by the FSC logo on the box. Me:  Have sustainable materials already been used in your product? What are these materials? Interviewee: Other than the packaging, our sustainable approach is also focused on the production chain. The process by which the shoes are created and the treatment of the leathers used has a low environmental impact. We try to get as close as possible to the theme of sustainability. Me: How has your brand suffered from the lockdown when stores had to close? What impact did this have on your stock? Interviewee: Since the very start of the lockdown my f

Exploration of digital software: Lucid Press

Image
The digital software I will be using for this project is Lucidpress. I have looked at this software in order to present my work in magazine format.  To begin with, I have explored Vogue's archive to have an example on how Vogue magazine articles are displayed. I have found these 2 different examples which are also feature articles. As you can see, there are different ways to present an article there can be images that take up 2 pages and others that are smaller. On Lucidpress, I started by selecting a magazine template  I have then, explored some features of text such as font, size and page number. I added an image to see how this would look with the writing and I have aligned the writing to the centre as seen by the magazines in Vogue. Moreover, I have noticed that Vogue articles start their writing with the first letter being larger than the rest of the text so I tried this out too. After creating an article-like paper I have conside
