Target Audience Reserach

 I had a look at user habits of Youtube videos to see if my video could be successful among the target audience.

-my target audience would be teenagers and young adults from 16 to 22 years old.


According to Minimatters (2014), people in 2014 used to stream videos of minimum 42 seconds and maximum 9 minutes. The average time length would be around 4 minutes. This means that people tend to prefer short videos, as long videos may lose the audiences' attention. (The shorter the better)



Business 2 Community (2014) reports the same argument by showing this graph.

In 2018,  people seem to have increased the time they spent on Youtube.  Statistic (2018) shows the video length based on the category of the video. My video would be part of Entertainment or Informative (other), so the average length would be from around 9 to 12 minutes.

In addition, Techsmith (2018) illustrates that the people prefer watching videos that last 5-6 minutes of instructional and informational videos, which would be the same as my video.

In conclusion, having looked at different sources of different from 2014 and 2018, I can argue that 5 to 7 minutes, perhaps would be the best length choice for my video.

    Some good research here including a range of sources. Please make sure you include in-text citations that follow Harvard conventions to improve this further. You really have focused on the length of videos perhaps you develop your target audience research further by considering the type of content your target group is interested in. (Animated, interview, motion graphic, educational etc.)

Last Tuesday, scrolling down my Instagram feed, I see Prada posting on Instagram a series of videos titled as Multiple Views in chapters from 1-5. Sequential photography made by me (individually)

My initial ideas on this task were to create a set of sequential images that had a deeper meaning compared to the set we created as classwork. I came up with the idea to shoot a set of sequential images whilst giving money to a man in need. I decided to place the action of giving the money halfway through the images because I wanted to create a sort of narrative within the images. In this way, I was able to show the difference in the man's expression before having the money and after having the money. As you can see below, I drew a storyboard sketch to demonstrate my initial idea.  I would like to introduce a new friend I just met, his name is Andrei and he is from Moscow. This is his second time enrolling in DMU since he studied English last year.
