Sequential photography made by me (individually)

My initial ideas on this task were to create a set of sequential images that had a deeper meaning compared to the set we created as classwork. I came up with the idea to shoot a set of sequential images whilst giving money to a man in need. I decided to place the action of giving the money halfway through the images because I wanted to create a sort of narrative within the images. In this way, I was able to show the difference in the man's expression before having the money and after having the money. As you can see below, I drew a storyboard sketch to demonstrate my initial idea.

Process of Editing:

I took the pictures with my phone and I changed the original color to a black&white filter using my camera settings.

Then, I edited the brightness of each photo to a higher level still using the camera settings on my phone.

I chose the pictures that I believed to be the best.

At last I created a collage with an App on my phone called PicsArt.

I shot this set of photographs next to the Haymarket Shopping Centre in Leicester, on Sunday 12th of January.
In the first image the man in need has a different facial expression compared to the last image. He looks upset and maybe hopeless, however in the last image you can see him smiling. The message I wanted to express by taking these pictures is that by doing a small action of kindness you can change a person's day. It is very easy to make a person smile and I encourage to help the less fortunate because it will make you feel better too.

I think the photographs went well but could surely improve. I found a man that was really nice and that helped; however if the man was more cooperative, I could have been able to shoot the set of photographs with better angles.  I hope I can learn to do better with the editing, perhaps with a more professional software.

  1. This blog post needs further development as the commentary is very minimal. Please make sure you discuss the technical process. Did you use a phone or a camera to shoot the images? What settings did you use? What software did you use? Please make sure you add screenshots of this process. You also need to add reflection on your work. How could your work be improved? What went well?

You have not added any research yet. Please make sure you look at the work of an artist that created sequential images and discuss at least two pieces.

  2. It is very good work, but what app did you use?
