Video making try no.1

Image
I made a start on the introduction of the video, to try out the footage and audio together. I edited 2 pieces of footage from the original pieces. 1. Original vs New: Steps I kept the Threshold at  0, but I changed the Value to (35) Then, I changed the contrast, vibrance and saturation. I decided to turn the video to a grayish color so it would much the following footage. 2. -Threshold (12) - Value (77) I decided to make the background brighter so the cloud would stand out and be more visible. This was a first try to have an idea on the footage i will use, the video is only about 30 second long and the audio will be recorded again because there are background noises. The tools were easy to use and work with. I edited the color of these 2 footage in order to maintain a similar style, in terms of color between the various footages. The second footage seemed to me slightly dull and not attractive, in this way I think it may

I performed a survey to evaluate the habits of social networking users. I kindly asked 10 people of different ages and gender to complete a 5 question survey in relation to their usage of social media. The audience was divided into 5 males and 5 females ranging from 16 to 59 years old. According to the statistics, 5 people out of 10 spend more than 5 hours on social media and use Instagram the most.   These participants resulted to be the teenage participants, from 16 to 20 years old. The findings show that as age increases,  people spend less of their time on social media.  Instagram seems to be more common among younger people while Facebook seems to be used more frequently by older people. As the ones who picked Facebook were in their late 50s. They mainly use social media to interact with others and read news of the world, because none of the participants chose the choices of work, following celebrities or posting photos and ideas. Regardless of age and gender

Research on Influential Psychologists

Sigmund Freud Sigmund Freud, regarded as one of the greatest minds of the 20th century was born in Freiburg, Moravia, in 1856. Freud was educated in Vienna where he became a neurologist and founded psychoanalysis (BBC, n.d.). Freud studied medicine at the University of Vienna in 1873 and in 1886 he set up a private practice specializing in nervous disorders and brain disorders. He development many theories throughout his life such as the theory of infantile sexuality, his psychoanalytic theory of personality (structure of the mind) and the theory of the unconscious. In the theory of the unconscious, Freud believed that there are instincts that drive the unconscious. He divided them into 2 groups:  Eros (the life instincts) and Thanatos (the death instincts). Eros consists of sexual instincts while Thanatos      consists of aggressive and self-destruction impulses.

Further Research on videos/videomakers

As further research I had a look at a this video by TED-Ed.  TED is an non-profit organization that was founded to share ideas through conferences on a variety of topics from business to science and more. TED-Ed is a branch of TED used as an educational service. It supports learning and the sharing of ideas between students and teachers. This video shown below is one of their animated videos found on youtube. Why do we dream? TED- Ed provides original content made by experts of animation, screenwriting and so on. My project will not include animations done by me but I could use copyright free animation. Pixabay provides stock that is apparently copyright free  'videos of Animated. ✓ Free for commercial use ✓ No attribution required ✓'. Although it does not have the cartoon animation shown in the video there is some footage that I can find useful. I saw a few that would fit but I will choose depending on the context of the video.   Pixabay A seco

Set Essay Initial Plan

Image
I created a milanote board to help put down my initial ideas for my essay. I have decided how to structure my essay (shown below). Like every academic essay an Introduction, Body and Conclusion is required. Every Body paragraph will show the P.E.E.T format. I have taken this technique from one of my Media 1 lessons as we are building a case study also analyzing media texts.  My line of argument/ aim / thesis statement will be to analyze how this article from the Telegraph has being using journalese or sensational language to report on the 9/11 attacks which is not typical of a broadsheet newspaper.   - I will discuss why they have been using these techniques with regard to News Values and Ideologies.

Research on how to analyze a newspaper article (Set essay)

Image
I am starting to work on my Set Essay and my first step is to conduct some research on how to analyze a newspaper article. I have some knowledge on how to analyze the language and representation of newspapers as I have studied it in my Media 1 course. I can tell the difference between the reportage techniques and characteristics between a broadsheet and a tabloid. Here's a paper given to me by my tutor Bettina from term 1 that I figure can help me develop my essay. This paper compares the differences between broadsheets and tabloids by discussing vocabulary, graphology, tone& bias and more. I could include this in my bibliography (source reference on right top corner) and consider these aspects when writing my essay. I found this plan on how to structure a Newspaper Article Analysis on the internet. I'm not 100% it is reliable because it does not mention where it comes from or who wrote it so it took me some time to find out and apparently it comes f
