Welcome to my last term as a foundation student at DMU. In a few months I will be a year 1 student studying media and communication! As stated before, my dream would be to become a fashion journalist and Anna Wintour (editor of Vogue) is a great inspiration as she is one of the most successful woman in the field.


Even though Anna was already born into a wealthy family and with her father as a journalist, she   managed to make her way to the top in the fashion world which inspires me greatly. A few weeks back I saw the movie 'The Devil Wears Prada'. In the movie, the chief editor of a prestigious magazine interpreted by Meryl Streep is described as a ruthless woman. Meryl Streep admits that her interpretation of the role was drawn by Anna Wintour. In my opinion, a strong and charismatic person is always to be successful in the workplace especially in the fashion industry where the competition is large- many who try but only a few succeed. A woman like Anna must have a distinct personality and talent to be where she is right now.

Last Tuesday, scrolling down my Instagram feed, I see Prada posting on Instagram a series of videos titled as Multiple Views in chapters from 1-5. These short films were created to showcase the Spring/Summer 2021 collection in a technologic and surreal way, how Miuccia Prada sees the world today- her vision for the "post-pandemic fashion market" (Madsen, 2020). Chapter 4 - Prada Multiple View Spring/Summer 2021 Chapter 4 was a obvious response to the world of today. Models were placed in different seating rows inside the theater due to social distancing with screens, mobiles, and virtual realty everywhere. A music that is almost scary, resembling horror films and staring looks all suggest the effects of technology and the digital era. Sequential photography made by me (individually)

My initial ideas on this task were to create a set of sequential images that had a deeper meaning compared to the set we created as classwork. I came up with the idea to shoot a set of sequential images whilst giving money to a man in need. I decided to place the action of giving the money halfway through the images because I wanted to create a sort of narrative within the images. In this way, I was able to show the difference in the man's expression before having the money and after having the money. As you can see below, I drew a storyboard sketch to demonstrate my initial idea.  I would like to introduce a new friend I just met, his name is Andrei and he is from Moscow. This is his second time enrolling in DMU since he studied English last year. He is 22 years old and  his progression route will be Film making. He enjoys watching movies and playing games on the computer. He chose Film Studies because he wishes to work in the Film industry, and is greatly inspired by Steven Spielberg.
