Primary research on video- what do people think about my work?

It's the 8th week of this online academic term and the deadline for my assignment is approaching. I have completed my video and in order to identify the weaknesses of the video and make changes before submission, I asked a couple of people to watch the video and respond to a survey about it.

I tried to cover most of the aspects of the video and included a few open answer questions to make sure the participants could express clear and open opinions instead of just making them choose between a yes and a no.

According to the answers, the information is clear to understand and I'm glad about that because the main issue of the topic is that it is quite complex to explain and paraphrase of course.

The video seems to be appealing as well, and the the choice of music is appropriate as concluded by this survey.

The results show that the most appreciated characteristic is the footage (visual content). I think that perhaps there were a few little problems with the interview clips in terms of sound, because the atmosphere was windy, I tried to fix it as best as I can and it seems like the audience didn't notice the complication after all.

All 4 respondents believe that the video has an appropriate length and I was pretty confident about these answer because my previous target audience research blogpost also confirms that people prefer short videos of about 3 to 5 minutes.

The comments on the footage seem positive, except for the 3rd answer. The respondent answered "good but could be better" the answered seemed vague and I hoped the respondent would give a more detailed answer, so I asked for further explanation and the respondent said that I should have used a tripod, and he is correct but I didn't have one and couldn't manage to get one. If the term was taught as normally, I would have taken the equipment from the University.

Overall, the main issue with the video is the volume because the outcome has a low volume and the respondents suggested that I raise the volume of the audio and record more clearly, which I will do.

After that, the final step is to start thinking how to showcase the video on the website.

  1. Excellent that you have been able to gather some feedback on your project before final submission. Very well done! Please make sure you show the development of your video on the blog. You could include samples of the audio from before and after any adjustments you make.
