Project Sign Off: Prada's Multiple Views
Last Tuesday, scrolling down my Instagram feed, I see Prada posting on Instagram a series of videos titled as Multiple Views in chapters from 1-5. These short films were created to showcase the Spring/Summer 2021 collection in a technologic and surreal way, how Miuccia Prada sees the world today- her vision for the "post-pandemic fashion market" (Madsen, 2020).
Chapter 4 was a obvious response to the world of today. Models were placed in different seating rows inside the theater due to social distancing with screens, mobiles, and virtual realty everywhere. A music that is almost scary, resembling horror films and staring looks all suggest the effects of technology and the digital era. Martine Syms, the photographer of chapter 4 created this video with the intention of showing what it feels like to live in these lockdown/digital times “I’m inspired by the way screens have come to make and unmake us, and what it means to be living, breathing, moving, fleshy things in a world full of them” (Syms, 2020 cited in Madsen, 2020).
Prada has shown us what technology can do- a possible successful digital show, in my opinion. This also shows how fashion is always evolving, as it must meet the demands of an evolving world- fashion can and should adapt to each and every situation.

It has been interesting to read your summary and analysis of these fashion videos, particularly your conclusion about the need for fashion to evolve and adapt to situations as they occur. I also recently read an article about Virtual Reality (VR) fashion shows which similarly showed the adaptability of the fashion industry to the needs presented by the current pandemic. These are relevant thoughts to include in the planning of your writing project. I also think that you have fulfilled the brief of making this post engaging to read as well as providing the link to your project sign-off.
